Simplesoft Celebrates Groundbreaking
Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm was the official ground breaking celebration for the new Simplesoft Solutions office and training facility located at 550 N. Main Street, Springboro, OH. Interested media and city officials were invited to attend this event and the post groundbreaking reception which took place immediately following on the site. Don Menrisky, President and Managing Partner, stated he is looking forward to the completion of the facility by late summer. "Construction is scheduled for completion at the end of August and I want to be settled in the building in time to offer training classes in the 4th quarter."

Simplesoft Solutions has occupied space at 10851 Yankee Street for more than 11 years and the growth of the business in the past three years has made a move necessary. "Our current location worked very well in our beginning years, but the lack of adequate space for a professional training facility along with the need for additional employee office space prompted the search for the perfect location. I have lived in Springboro for eight years and the easy access to the interstate makes this a great choice."

"The new building will be 4,400 square feet and have a training room large enough to conduct public training sessions for our Sage CRM software customers. This facility will provide the space to add to our staff as our growth continues." Simplesoft was a Sage President’s Circle winner in 2007 and has a full staff of certified developers, integrators, and trainers of multiple Sage CRM software products.

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Support to End
Microsoft announced their intent to end support for MS SQL Server 2000 on April 8, 2008. Sage SalesLogix currently supports both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. Many of you have already started the migration to SQL Server 2005, but this new announcement makes it even more important to develop a strategy now. Read more about the SQL Server Lifecycle directly from Microsoft.

If you need any assistance migrating your servers over to MS SQL Server 2005 please contact Simplesoft. And don't forget that you need to also consider MS SQL Express 2005 as a replacement for MSDE on remote clients.

Simplesoft Solutions Honored as New Member of Sage Software's President's Circle
Simplesoft Solutions, a Sage Software business partner selling Sage SalesLogix and SageCRM has been named to the President's Circle for 2007, based on its sales revenue for the past fiscal year October 2006-September 2007.

"President's Circle status doesn't come easy, and we're happy to bestow this prestigious recognition to partners like Simplesoft Solutions, who have been top performers during the past fiscal year, "said Nina Smith, President of Sage Software Business Management Division." "The hard work Simplesoft Solutions put in has paid off in their tremendous sales achievements, and we look forward to continuing our mutually successful relationship with them throughout the new fiscal year."

Don Menrisky, President and Managing Partner of Simplesoft Solutions, sees this award as a very important milestone for his company. "We have been a business partner for Sage Software for _ years and we continue to invest in the certifications and training that gives us the experience to help our customers." "We have stayed focused on developing expertise in software and business consulting for sales, marketing & customer service and it pays to keep your eyes on your customer's needs and not stray from the point of being in business."

Attn: August 2007 Microsoft Time Zone Update
Microsoft released an update on Wednesday of this week, through Windows Updates automatic patching, to their previous DST patch for all Windows operating systems. All SalesLogix users not on v6.2 SP6 or v7.0 SP1 will be impacted by this Microsoft patch and all SalesLogix applications will no longer open. (For those of you on v6.1 or earlier, you will not be affected.) This patch may also impact the ability to open MS Outlook. For more information on the details of the Microsoft patch, please click the link below:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=933360

There are two basic resolution options:

  1. Upgrade your Sage SalesLogix to v6.2 SP6, v7.0 SP1, or v7.2. This is a permanent fix, but requires some planning. Please contact us to discuss this option.
  2. Reapply the registry file fix previously released this past winter. You can download the registry file by clicking the link below:

Please note the workaround should only be downloaded and applied if the Microsoft Time Zone Patch has been applied. Please e-mail support@simplesoft.net with any additional questions.

Attn: Simplesoft Solutions Sage SalesLogix Customers
On Tuesday, December 5, 2006, Sage Software notified Sage SalesLogix customers of an incompatibility issue related to Microsoft Time Zone patch KB928388. The fix is now available from Sage and we would like to make it easy and available to you to download from our website. This patch from Microsoft is NOT a security patch, so running the fix from Sage will not compromise security.

Download Sage SalesLogix Workaround for Microsoft KB928388 Update

Please contact us if you have any questions. Listed below is some additional information you will need for installing this fix:

Note: Impact to versions 6.2 & 7.0 of Sage SalesLogix - does not impact versions 5.2 or 6.1

  1. Run the Sage fix on the Web Host (IIS) for v6.2 to v7.0, but not the web client (IE) machines. The fix can be applied to all machines in a company if it will be pushed out via "global" distribution methods.

  2. If a machine doesn't have Sage SalesLogix installed in ANY way on it, you should be fine to apply the DST patch from Microsoft.

  3. If a machine that has SLX installed has the Microsoft patch applied, accidentally or intentionally, the only way to allow Sage SalesLogix to work properly will be to apply the fix from Sage. Effectively, the fix uninstalls the Microsoft patch until a later permanent fix for Sage SalesLogix is released. To our knowledge, there should not be a problem with applying this fix. Once you are upgraded to the next Sage SalesLogix service pack, you should then autodistribute the UNDO registry update Sage supplied - to get you back in line with the Microsoft patch.

Note: A permanent fix will be released in SLX 6.2 SP6 and SLX 7.0 SP1 - by mid January - as the issue affects all Sage SalesLogix modules. Once the Service packs are applied, there is a registry fix to remove the workaround and put the Microsoft patch back in place. The workaround fix was released on Thursday, December 07, 2006, so Sage actually released the workaround 5 days before MS released the patch.

Planning for upgrade v7.0 of Sage SalesLogix
Many of you who are currently on a maintenance contract have probably received a Sage SalesLogix v7.0 DVD. The strategy of Simplesoft on ANY product's major release, not just Sage, is to provide the maximum uptime to our end users. We want our customer's sales organization using their time to sell and not field test an early product release.

We participated in the beta cycles for Sage SalesLogix v7 throughout the summer. It appears, that once again, Sage has delivered an enhanced CRM product.

Typically, for a major release, we will wait 30 days to ensure the release will not be recalled for any missed issues. Because Sage SalesLogix v7.0 was released September 12, we will begin upgrade testing for internal use in the early part of October. Once we have run the release in a test environment we will deploy internally to our production system. After we are satisfied with a thirty day review, we will begin advising customers to schedule an upgrade. We use Sage SalesLogix for our business and we model the same approach that we recommend to our customers.

Third party products will usually be updated to run with Sage SalesLogix in 30 to 45 days after Sage has made a major release. We will be reviewing third party products and add-ons to ensure that they are operational and will not cause any new issues.

We are ready today to begin demonstrations of Sage SalesLogix v7.0 and welcome any questions you have about planning for upgrades. Again, we are recommending you wait until our internal installation has been completed and we can more adequately advise you during the upgrade.

Sage SalesLogix Retirement Dates
Adequately plan for retirement of older version of Sage SalesLogix using the following Sage SalesLogix Version Retirement Schedule:

SageCRM SLX Version: Retirement Date:
SageCRM SLX v6.0 May 1, 2006
SageCRM SLX v5.2 January 1, 2007
SageCRM SLX v6.1 March 1, 2007
