Your sales team probably spends most of their day working in Outlook managing emails and having to go back and forth between CRM and Outlook to record notes can be time consuming. The Outlook connector for Infor CRM, Xbar, is a quick and easy way to manage your contacts right from your Outlook. Xbar is a quick access panel that sits right in your Outlook. Your sales staff can manage their Accounts and Contacts and record notes, schedule activities, create new contacts or leads and review past histories.

The Xbar add-in keeps your sales team efficient and utilizing Infor CRM. When composing an email they can simple select the “send to CRM” button, as shown above. This will record the email into CRM and send it to the customer at the same time. You can even chose to include an attachment from your email. So tracking quotes and customer communications has never been easier.

A sales professional could manage their day from the Xbar panel. Here is a look at some of the navigation buttons on the Xbar panel:

  1. If they were on the road a few days they can go back to the sent emails and use the “record them to history” button.
  2. If you wanted a look at the full details of an Account/Contact, use this icon to jump directly to Account in the Web or LAN client.
  3. These 4 actions allow you to schedule, record or view previous histories and activities.

Here are a few tips for installing Infor CRM Xbar into Outlook with Windows 10. If you miss these items it’s likely that Xbar won’t install properly and cause errors to occur.

First, UAC must be off. For Windows 10 this includes a registry setting at : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System. Set EnableLUA to ‘0’¬† and reboot machine. Note: the¬†User must be a local admin on the PC.

After you have downloaded the Xbar install file be sure to unblock it.¬†Right-click the file and click the properties line. On the window that appears, look for ‚Äėunblock‚Äô at the bottom of the window, click the unblock and then apply to allow the install.

Customers and Infor Partners alike attended a demonstration of Infor CRM v8.3 yesterday. Kevin Draggoo, Infor CRM Product Manager, announced the March release date of Infor CRM v8.3. He estimated March 18th but committed to the end of March. This version is packed with new features. Being a long time trainer of Saleslogix (Infor CRM) I get to hear feature requests first hand and some of the new enhancements in v8.3 have been on customer’s wish lists for many years. I thought I would provide a quick review for those who didn’t get to attend:

Import Engine – Infor CRM v8.3 provides the ability to import into Tickets, Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Users, Lead Sources, Opportunities, and Products. It will also contain the ability to do Bulk Updates to records. The fields are configurable through the Web Admin for each of the tables mentioned above. This has been a highly requested feature.

Notes/History Preview – The Notes/History tab will now display multiple lines of History with the details moved below the item rather than on the right side. It will preview 256 characters of text from the history record below the detail, with an option to ‘Show More…’ and see additional content. There will also be a Show/Hide feature.

Sales Orders and Quotes РQuotes have been separated from Sales Orders and are now their own entity. This was done to further connect CRM to ERP Back Office Integration. The Quote to Cash Cycle now includes Opportunity, Quote, Create Proposal, and Promote to Sales Order.

Back Office Extension – The Back Office Extension for ERP Integration is now a part of the core Infor CRM solution. The two-way integration includes Account/Contact, Ship To, Pay From, and Bill To. All two-way integrations will go through a certification process by the Infor ERP business groups.

Mobile – Mobile v3.4 will be released for v8.3 and will not be backwards compatible with other versions of Infor CRM. Offline Access is a huge benefit of this release of Mobile. It will also include the Quote to Order cycle with workflow for promoting items to ERP.

Xbar – Xbar v1.3 includes single install for Outlook Integration and Xbar. You can now associate Tickets and Opportunities to Activities. You can now complete an appointment in Outlook along with accessing details from Calendar items.

Performance Gains and Compatibility – Infor and Customer testing showing 85% faster view loads than v8.1 and most pages are loading in half the time of v8.1. Kevin from Infor said the speed was reflective of Saleslogix v7.54 days. Infor CRM v8.3 is also compatible with Windows 10, Microsoft 2016, and Windows 10 Edge Browser.

Web Admin – Even more admin functions have been moved from the LAN Administrator to the Web. This version includes things like Licenses, Customer Service Defaults, and Ticket and Defect Activity Rates.

Finally, the dates and location for Inforum 2016 were announced. Inforum 2016 will be in NYC from July 10 – 13th. You can register at Inforum2016.com and get early,early bird special which ends on March 24th.

Infor CRM released Xbar 1.1.1 in late November.  We have had a chance to install and test at Simplesoft and have found some great new features to help all users of Infor CRM using MS Outlook 2010 or 2013. First things first, if you are one of our customers and would like the new Xbar and you are on a current Infor CRM business care plan, please e-mail the normal support e-mail and request it (support@simplesoft.net)!

Xbar 1.1.1 New Features:

The first thing you will notice after the installation of Xbar is the branding to Infor CRM (blue) and which replaced the previous Saleslogix look and feel.  Secondly, the installation features have been updated and many of you will be thrilled with the Enterprise features. Enterprise Installer will provide for Silent Install/Uninstall and Install from a Network Location along with Localized Installers and Windows Authentication.

The practical usage improvements start with being able to Complete Actions in Saleslogix from Xbar such as Completing Meetings and To Dos (any scheduled activity).

Duplicate Contact in Infor CRM

Another small but great new feature is being able to tell if the person is a Lead or Contact and if there are duplicate records in Infor CRM (L for Lead and C for contact).

You can also choose to add the address from the Account to a New Contact record when creating through Xbar. How many times do you find out about New Contacts through e-mail interactions? You can select the signature of this new Contact and drag on to the Xbar surface to create a New Contact or New Lead.  What a time saver!

The Global Search Improvements provide added filters for entity-related drill down such as searching for a person both in Leads and Contacts at the same time.

You can now jump directly from Xbar Ticket or Opportunity view to the full client version of that Ticket or Opportunity if needed.  How incredible to be able to capture New Tickets and New Opportunities directly from inside of Outlook (original feature but just hit me again how powerful this feature is to most).  I know many of you find out about new Opportunities and issues for starting Tickets through e-mail.  Did I say this tool was practical already? Did I also remind you Infor CRM is CRM built for a purpose? It is one thing to see flashy and cool features in CRM software but it is completely different to see features built for business and be cool at the same time!

You  have added individual default settings such as changing the default filter in the Member View which will default to All, From, or To and limit the number of records pulled back as set by you. Through the Common Settings you can change the language preference. You can also launch the LAN client now, in addition to the web client,  when needing to access your CRM.

We have discussed this feature set among ourselves for months. We submitted suggestions through Idealogix, along with attending sneak peek web meetings, and finally, the time has arrived! Xbar for Saleslogix will debut on Monday, May 19th at 3 PM EST. The Xbar for Saleslogix is a component of Swiftpage’s strategy called “Your CRM Inside” and exemplifies their vision of users being easily able to utilize Saleslogix in their daily routine.

The Xbar will bring a panel of Saleslogix functionality, inside of Outlook¬ģ, strengthening the usage of CRM for all companies. The feature set will include a window of information about a Contact from information in Saleslogix-like interactions and Opportunities. The user will be able to update information in Saleslogix from Outlook¬ģ and create additional entries in Saleslogix, such as Contacts and Opportunities, with the ease of dragging and dropping.
