Infor CRM Xbar is dependent on specific URLs in the settings and configuration.  If you make any change to the web client URL for Infor CRM, you will have users reporting their Xbar or Outlook is no longer communicating and getting an error.  This issue will appear even when the user can still log in to the web client due to a web page redirect.

If you are an Infor Cloud customer your URL has changed or will be changing as they re-brand Saleslogix to Infor CRM.   If your Xbar has stopped working and your URL information has changed this may be the culprit.  The web client OLD URL will be accessible for 14 days after the change utilizing a website redirect.  Xbar will not function correctly with that redirected URL.

For cloud users that were recently migrated to the new URL, you were sent an email informing you of that change to connect to the website along with some desktop manager and Outlook connector changes.  These too are impacted by any URL change, but the one item that was missed as part of the integration changes was the Xbar configuration.

When you first installed the Xbar you were shown the initial log-in screen for Xbar.  But what if you need to change the URL information and its not showing like the initial login screen but you are getting a connection error?  By clicking on the SETTINGS button on the Xbar (highlighted yellow below) you can open the configuration settings and review the URL’s used by Xbar.

The published changes for the cloud customers are as follows: (http or https)

o   If your current URL is: yourcompany.saleslogixcloud.com
o   Your newly changed URL will be: yourcompany.crmcloud.infor.com

ORIGINAL LOG IN SCREEN FOR XBAR:
The Service URL field will be the link you use to connect to the web client with the /slxclient replaced with /sdata
The Client URL field will be the link you use to connect to the web client with the /slxclient

Comments Off on Infor CRM(Saleslogix) Xbar and Connectivity

Infor CRM released Xbar 1.1.1 in late November.  We have had a chance to install and test at Simplesoft and have found some great new features to help all users of Infor CRM using MS Outlook 2010 or 2013. First things first, if you are one of our customers and would like the new Xbar and you are on a current Infor CRM business care plan, please e-mail the normal support e-mail and request it (support@simplesoft.net)!

Xbar 1.1.1 New Features:

The first thing you will notice after the installation of Xbar is the branding to Infor CRM (blue) and which replaced the previous Saleslogix look and feel.  Secondly, the installation features have been updated and many of you will be thrilled with the Enterprise features. Enterprise Installer will provide for Silent Install/Uninstall and Install from a Network Location along with Localized Installers and Windows Authentication.

The practical usage improvements start with being able to Complete Actions in Saleslogix from Xbar such as Completing Meetings and To Dos (any scheduled activity).

Complete Activity in Infor CRM

You can now Add a quick Note to Infor CRM from Xbar.

Duplicate Contact in Infor CRM

Another small but great new feature is being able to tell if the person is a Lead or Contact and if there are duplicate records in Infor CRM (L for Lead and C for contact).

Lead Record in Infor CRM

You can also choose to add the address from the Account to a New Contact record when creating through Xbar. How many times do you find out about New Contacts through e-mail interactions? You can select the signature of this new Contact and drag on to the Xbar surface to create a New Contact or New Lead.  What a time saver!

The Global Search Improvements provide added filters for entity-related drill down such as searching for a person both in Leads and Contacts at the same time.

You can now jump directly from Xbar Ticket or Opportunity view to the full client version of that Ticket or Opportunity if needed.  How incredible to be able to capture New Tickets and New Opportunities directly from inside of Outlook (original feature but just hit me again how powerful this feature is to most).  I know many of you find out about new Opportunities and issues for starting Tickets through e-mail.  Did I say this tool was practical already? Did I also remind you Infor CRM is CRM built for a purpose? It is one thing to see flashy and cool features in CRM software but it is completely different to see features built for business and be cool at the same time!

You  have added individual default settings such as changing the default filter in the Member View which will default to All, From, or To and limit the number of records pulled back as set by you. Through the Common Settings you can change the language preference. You can also launch the LAN client now, in addition to the web client,  when needing to access your CRM.

Compatibility:
Saleslogix 8.0 (Web and LAN) Saleslogix 8.1 (Web and LAN) Outlook 2010 (desktop version only) Outlook 2013 (desktop version only) Windows 8.1 Windows 8 Windows 7 SQL Oracle Must be on an active business care plan. For all compatibility details see the compatibility guide in Infor Xtreme.

Comments Off on Xbar v1.1.1 Released for Infor CRM (Saleslogix) with Practical New Features

September 12th, 2014 by

If you are planning to use the new Saleslogix Xbar in your daily Saleslogix usage, we want to offer some preparations and considerations for installing and configuring your Saleslogix Xbar to make it work as designed.

In late June 2014, Saleslogix released a new valuable tool for Saleslogix customers, and this tool has created quite a stir. The new tool is called Saleslogix Xbar. Saleslogix Xbar for Outlook is an add-on for Saleslogix that is designed to be a purpose-built application (PBA) to allow CRM features of Saleslogix to be accessible directly within Outlook. This accessibility’s main purpose is to increase adoption and productivity right where users work.

We want to help your end users get up and running with Saleslogix quickly and smoothly. Here are a few tips to make for an easier installation process:

Tip 1: Confirm that you have the right version of Saleslogix in place before doing anything.

– Xbar currently works with Saleslogix v8.0.0 and v8.1.0.

Tip 2: Confirm that you have the right version of MS Outlook in place.

– Xbar currently works with MS Outlook 2010 and MS Outlook 2013.

Tip 3: Confirm that you have the SData portal deployed and operational.

– Saleslogix Xbar is not dependent on the Saleslogix Web Client, but it does need the SData portal deployed and operational.

Tip 4: Before you install, turn off UAC.

– Turn off UAC (User Access Control) in Windows for the logged in user. Go to:

Control Panel\User Accounts\User Accounts

Note:  Need to adjust UAC to “Off” for the duration of the installation task and return to previous settings after installation is complete.

Tip 5: Make sure that you install from a local location.

-Copy the installation files, compressed, to the local machine.

-Un-compress the file locally for the duration of the installation.  No mapped drives please.

Tip 6: Match up the installation to Outlook bit edition.

– Use the install version that matches to MS Outlook bit edition, and not Windows, for instance.

Tip 7: Close MS Outlook before the installation tasks.

We want you to have the best experience with installation and configuration as possible.  If you follow the few simple tips above, you will have an easy installation for the tool and will experience fewer issues getting started.
