Back in September, we published a blog providing you with a preview of OnTheGo, the SalesLogix mobile solution for iPhone and Android developed by the team at Net@Work. In that post, we also alluded to the fact that Sage would be addressing iPhone and Android platforms through the development of a shiny new HTML 5 browser based solution. Well we are happy to report that we’re getting increasingly closer to the release of that product, and thought you’d like a sneak peek!
The delivery of the HTML 5 client is expected before the end of the calendar year 2010, and should provide SalesLogix users with an effective, zero footprint model for accessing their data remotely. We’ve been able to test the look and feel of the new product on a variety of devices, including the iPad, and have been more than satisfied with the results. This new SalesLogix access point should be a welcome addition to the family of products, especially as Sage puts more focus on the web based client and more fully develops the SData strategy. (Click to expand the image)

There’s no word just yet on the pricing and licensing model, but we expect it to be in line with the current pricing.
For more information or for a demonstration of this exciting addition to the SalesLogix family, please feel free to contact us at 937-885-1204×3210, or email us at sales@simplesoft.net

I was asked by a client for some help with all the calendar features in Sage SalesLogix. We use a format called Quick Cards (Qcards) to document business processes for training of Sage SalesLogix, so I thought I would share my work with everyone. Attached are two Qcards for the Sage SalesLogix Calendar. Download and distribute to your users. Call on us for Sage SalesLogix training help and check out our free monthly SalesLogix training webinars called “CRM in Session.”

Have you ever had to come behind a co-worker and try and figure out what they may have done in a database? Looking at tables and fields is fairly easy, but what happens if they have been working on table/field triggers?
Here is a handy SQL statement that will allow you to see all the triggers that have been defined on any table in your database:
SELECT so2.[name] TableName, so1.[name] TriggerName,
CASE
WHEN so1.deltrig > 0 THEN ‘Delete’
WHEN so1.instrig > 0 THEN ‘Insert’
WHEN so1.updtrig > 0 THEN ‘Update’
END as ‘Trigger Type’
FROM sysobjects so1 inner JOIN sysobjects so2
ON so1.parent_obj = so2.[id]
WHERE so1.xtype = ‘TR’
This is a very simple statement, but may save you lots of time if you are searching for something someone else may have done.

Springboro, OH (PRWEB) September 30, 2010 — Appalachian Log Structures chose last week to take their on-premise version of Sage SalesLogix to the Sage SalesLogix Cloud. Simplesoft Solutions was selected to help them upgrade their older version of the software to the most current v7.5.3 in the cloud.
Appalachian Log Structures was built over 30 years ago on a vision to provide durable, high-quality log structures for residential and commercial use in this country and abroad, with custom-crafted, superbly engineered log structures that would last for generations. The company offers the highest levels of traditional craftsmanship combined with the advantages of advanced technology. Appalachian Log turned to Sage SalesLogix for sales and marketing help nearly 8 years ago. They have automated lead capture, lead distribution, and marketing events management using Sage SalesLogix and Sage KnowledgeSync.
Mark Feder, VP of Sales at Appalachian Log Structures says “We are anxious to implement Opportunity Management in Sage SalesLogix Cloud to better manage our pipeline forecast.” |
The desire to lessen the dependency on internal infrastructure and to upgrade for newer features drove their decision to move to SalesLogix Cloud. Mark Feder, VP of Sales at Appalachian Log Structures says “We are anxious to implement Opportunity Management in Sage SalesLogix Cloud to better manage our pipeline forecast.” “In our business there are some clear buying signs such as attending a plant tour or purchasing home plans and Simplesoft has shown us how to take those buyer signs and incorporate them into the sales process steps and create a more accurate forecast using Sage SalesLogix.” The move from the on-premise version to SalesLogix in the Cloud will happen within the next 30 days. A fast and thorough transition plan was important to Appalachian Log Structures because minimal down time with Sage SalesLogix is critical to their operation.
The cloud edition of Sage SalesLogix offers customers the best of both worlds—a full-featured, flexible CRM solution with full ownership of data combined with the attributes of a SaaS CRM solution like payment and contract flexibility, access to data online, and the ability to get up and running quickly. Sage leverages Amazon’s Web service, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud™ (EC2™), to host the necessary hardware infrastructure and the award winning Sage SalesLogix application for its customers.

Last week in Denver, Sage hosted its annual Insights partner conference. As always, Simplesoft Solutions was in attendance and this year was represented by President, Don Menrisky and I. Traditionally, Insights provides many of the third party software solution vendors a way to showcase what’s new and exciting, and this year’s conference was no different. We saw some valuable tools and add-ons to help drive value for our customers and serve their customer’s better. However we felt the true excitement came from Sage and the company’s plans for the future of SalesLogix. We are pleased with their roadmap and vision.

Insights Conference 2010
I thought I would provide a “preview” of what’s coming over the next year in part. Sage has several releases planned with the release of Sage SalesLogix v7.5.3, due in the next 60 days, and version 8.0 in the first quarter of 2011. And I’m sure you have heard about the new “cloud” offering as they partner with Amazon EC2 to offer a SaaS version of SalesLogix. What does this mean for you? It means lot of really valuable functionality, which will continue to set SalesLogix apart as the leading innovative CRM tool in the marketplace and extend the capabilities of the tools. Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
Sage SalesLogix v7.5.3:
- Includes new web analytics and dashboard reporting tools designed to be easily created at the user level. Charts, graphs, and group lists are a few of the user-created options for user driven productivity.
- Browser agnostic Desktop Integrations (Think SendSLX and Drag and Drop using FireFox etc.)
- Web administration – previously handled in the Application Administrator, a LAN based tool. Web administration will simplify the process of managing users, roles, teams & security and other vital features for SLX web users. (Think remote administration without RDP access.)
- v7.5.3 due to be released in the cloud in the June/July timeframe, and available to on-premise deployments in late July or August.
Sage SalesLogix v8.0:
- New user interface for both the LAN and Web clients, more closely matched to each other.
- Increased focus on easing critical usability functions, including:
- Contextual menus
- Activity and calendar management
- Note recording and viewing (split form to match LAN client)
- Inserting contacts and accounts
- Quick editing of forms to add and edit forms, with no need to build and redeploy to users
- v8.0 expected in Q1 2011
In addition to these client enhancements, a completely re-designed Mobile Client is expected by Q1 2011 as well. This new version has been designed to roll seamlessly across any mobile platform using an HTML 5 browser, including the iPhone, Android and most new Windows and BlackBerry devices. Sage provided a link during the conference to preview the new environment, and we are very excited about what we have tested.
Finally, we are excited about the strategic direction Sage has taken to include more Connected Services, which we believe to be critical to the ongoing success of SalesLogix. The first release of this effort of this strategic plan has come in the form of Sage SalesLogix E-Marketing, released this month. In the near future, we can expect to see integrations to Hoovers, as well as other commonly used and valuable business resources extended through web services.
As our relationship with Sage SalesLogix grows, so does our continued commitment to our customers. I wanted to send the entire Sage team a big thanks for hosting another successful Insights conference. We have so much to share with our customers back in Ohio. The next Sage conference will be Sage Summit 2011 in Washington DC.
If you’d like to preview Sage SalesLogix v7.5.3 in the cloud you can start a 30 day free trial. E-mail us at sales@simplesoft.net or call us today at 937-885-1204 x 3210.

We recently had the opportunity to meet Phil Herzing and the folks at Dayton Business Spotlight in our office at Simplesoft Solutions. They chose Simplesoft Solutions as the latest business they wanted to interview and highlight in their Spotlight series and we would like to tell others what a great service they are providing the Dayton business community. They spend their time and resources visiting businesses in the greater Dayton area to learn more about why those businesses have chosen Dayton as their home. They know that Dayton has a long history of innovation and promotes an entrepreneurial culture and, as a result, are doing their part to communicate their belief in the strength of the area and its strong heritage and future.
Don Menrisky, the President and Managing Partner of Simplesoft Solutions, had the opportunity to speak with Phil about why he believes the Dayton region is an ideal place for his Customer Relationship Management (CRM) consulting firm. They discussed Simplesoft Solutions’ relationship with Sage as a valued added reseller of their Sage CRM applications, and how our strongest marketing source for new clients is through our relationship with current clients and their referrals.
Thanks so much Phil, Jeff, and Aaron. Come back and visit us anytime!

We have been working with the Sage SalesLogix 7.5.2 Web Client a lot lately and I am extremely impressed with the added features for Leads. Take a look at some of them below. If you have been holding off on upgrading this is the time!
Schedule and Complete Activities Against Leads:
Being able to schedule and complete activities against Leads is a long awaited improvement. Sage provided the place holder (Notes/History) tab in earlier versions giving us the sense that it was coming, but left us longing for the functionality. Now, finally, we can schedule and complete phone calls, meetings, and to-do’s against Leads, just like Contacts, improving the ability to stay on top of Leads.

Advanced Import Wizard:
Another major improvement to Leads is the advanced import wizard which includes de-duping against both Leads already in the database and Contacts. The wizard is a step by step process and provides a duplicates review and report prior to completing the import (see Step 4 below).

Import Actions:
Import Actions is the next feature improvement and has so many potential uses. Different actions can be scheduled against an entire import list (see Step 5 below). These actions include the following types:
•Note: Create a note that will appear in the History/Notes tab of the lead.
•Response: Create a response and record the interests of the lead or contact (if merged with a duplicate). You may optionally associate the response to a marketing campaign. If the response is associated to a campaign, the lead or contact (if merged) will be added to the marketing campaign as a target.
•Campaign Target: Add a lead or contact to a marketing campaign as a target, without creating a response.
•Phone Call, Meeting, To-do: Create/Schedule any of these activity types for the lead or contact (if merged).
•
If you would like to see the Lead Management improvements in a live demo, please call Simplesoft Solutions at 937-885-1204 x3204.

Press releases are usually written to let the business community know about important news information. I tend to write them only when our customers are extremely complementary and/or we are bursting with pride. In our development work with Sage SalesLogix, we have created many new main views (you developers will know what I mean) but this customization work for Best Upon Request is quite distinctive. We really bordered on developing a mini accounting application inside of Sage SalesLogix this time.
- Kyle, our lead web developer for Sage SalesLogix, really excelled on this custom project! He combined Best Upon Request’s Docket business logic and calculations and made the initiative become reality.
- Arminta, our data guru and business analyst, brought countless variations in transactions/calculations into one central main view that frankly made my head spin when I started discussing this project with them nearly 2 years ago.
- Paul worked his deployment and training magic for this client by working closely with their IT infrastructure consultant and SalesLogix Administrator.
- While overseeing the whole project, Patti kept the internal staff focused on deadlines and Best Upon Request was complementary of the communication and updates during the project.
Anyway, enough about what we did to serve our Sage SalesLogix customer. Please read about this great client and their concierge services business.
