![]() If anyone has upgraded to Infor CRM v8.4.04 you will need to apply the following updates to your CRM for the best experience. Please let us know if you’re in need of these and we will be happy to deploy them for you! Quick tip: If you want to know what version of Infor CRM you currently have you can click on the big help question mark in the right hand corner then click About. You will get the box below. There is a hot fix for Xbar if you have the newest version 1.4.1. The hot fix addresses the ability to Sync Leads between Infor CRM and Microsoft Outlook as well as the ability to manage sync options per resource by the Administrator. There is a hot fix for the new Mobile version 4.2 and/or Xbar 1.4.1 that provides support for new activities features. Again, these hot fixes only apply if you are on Infor CRM v8.4.04 and are actively using the newest Mobile and Xbar versions. ![]() I love helping our customers with their Infor CRM products, over the past couple of years I’ve been the go-to person for Xbar installs and troubleshooting. There’s a few things I’ve found while helping people that might help others in the future. Today I wanted to share the best practices for doing an Xbar install. It’s really simple and if everyone at your company who needs Xbar installed reads this blog I believe they will have great success with their install. Where do you download Xbar from? How do you get the latest version? – You can download Xbar in your CRM under tools, options and the general tab. – To make sure you have the latest Xbar version deployed on your CRM please reach out to us and I’d be happy to update you! You can see what version you currently have by going to Xbar, options, about. Our newest version to date is v1.4.1! Great, I have it downloaded, now I just install it right? Wrong! -I wish it was as easy as that but there a few things you’ll want to make sure are done before you install the new Xbar. -You won’t be able to do the next step if you are not in the administrators group on your PC so if you find you aren’t you may need to ask your IT group to add you. You can tell if you are by going to Computer Management, Local Users and Groups, Groups, Administrators. If you see your user name there, you are in the clear and ready to go to the next step. -Second thing I always check is if UAC is off. I can check this by going to the Control Panel, Security and Maintenance and clicking on “Change User Account Control Settings” or an easier way to get there is to type UAC in your Windows search bar. Make sure the blue bar is dragged down to the bottom to “Never notify”. Now you will probably want to turn this back on after the install because this setting is what alerts you before anything gets installed on your computer so that something you don’t want won’t get installed. But it’s important to have it off during the install because it can block some files you’ll need to go through. -One pesky thing about Windows 10 is that this window will not actually turn UAC ALL the way off. You will want to make sure to turn it off in the registry as well which can be done by going to Registry Editor or typing in Regedit in your Windows Search bar. Here are the steps you need to take to turn UAC completely off: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Now you’re ready for the install! -Now all you have to do is simply double click the install file, however one thing I’ve learned too is checking to make sure your file isn’t blocked is a great best practice. You can do that by right clicking the executable and selecting properties. There will be a check box in the bottom right hand corner that says “Unblock” check that box then click OK. Install done, now what? -After you’ve installed the new Xbar you can go to your Outlook and make sure everything is working as expected. If this is a brand new install and you didn’t have Xbar before you will need to make sure to fill in the settings. You will need to put in your CRM URL and then you can test the connection using your CRM user name and password. It helps you dial numbers, look up contacts and collect telephone information without having to do it manually. By simply clicking on an account in CRM, intelli-CTi will pull up any contacts associated with that account and their phone numbers. From there you can click which contact you want to call and it was dial the number for you. It will also keep a record of how long your call was, when it started and ended and allow you to make a note of what your conversation was about. Another feature included is the option to schedule calls and keep track of when they are completed. ![]() Most internet browsers including Google® Chrome™ browser, Firefox®, Microsoft® Edge® and Internet Explorer, and Safari®, are planning to stop support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) versions 1.0 and 1.1 to assist with updated encryption to customers. Starting in January 2020, they will start to implement TLS 1.2 or higher. Infor has concluded customers using Infor CloudSuite™ CRM version 8.2 or higher should not be affected by this change. The world in general is trying to get rid of insecure transport layer protocols. There could be difficulties with custom integrations or extensions contingent on the web browser and version you use. It is best to test these before the TLS 1.2 implementation. ![]() It is now possible to create offline notes in Mobile CRM and then sync them to CRM once back online in Infor CRM Mobile v4.0. This has to be enabled in the device as well as having offline support enabled on the server-side. 1.) To enable on device, from the hamburger menu, expand Other, click Configure Menu. Near the bottom will be the Offline Notes, it’s off by default 2.) Once enabled, there will be an Offline Notes item under the Go To menu, use the plus sign to begin adding a note 3.) Now, whether or not you are online you can create offline notes. If you create one offline, when you are back online you can add the note to CRM 4.) Go back to the note once online and use the ellipses to Save to Infor CRM 5.) Here you can select the details and what account/contact the note belongs to. This will save your note in CRM and when viewing the account/contact you will see the note there While testing this feature I happened to notice when viewing Notes & History, tapping on a note does not function on an iPhone but does on an Android phone. The iPhone click-ability was lacking unresponsive. I reached out to Infor and found out this was a defect and they had a hot fix created for it. Apparently, this only happens if you are using IOS 13.1.2 and Mobile v4.0. After applying the hot fix, wala! Everything worked great on the iPhone as well. So if you happen to notice this, please let us know because we can help! ![]() Major impact on your system security! On January 14, 2020 support and extended support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 will end. If you continue using Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 after support has ended, your PC/server will still work but it could have higher security risks and be more vulnerable to viruses. Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, software updates, or security updates after this date. It is recommended that you upgrade your OS/server or operating system before support ends. ![]() Microsoft will be discontinuing extended support for SQL server 2008 and 2008 R2 on July 9th, 2019. Mainstream support ended on July 8th 2014. There will not be any more security or support updates. This ends the life cycle of the SQL version. You will need to determine what version of SQL you are using if you don’t know already. Use this link to do that: How to identify your SQL Server Version and Edition If you are already using a later version you will not need to make any changes at this time. However if you are using one of these versions it is recommended that you update. Make sure to take a backup of your database first and then upgrade or install a Microsoft SQL instance on the server where your SQL is instance is currently installed. Here is a guide to do that: Upgrading or installing a Microsoft SQL instance If you are using a Workgroup, Standard or Enterprise edition of Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 or older, you will need to upgrade your SQL version. Depending on the size of your databases and your other needs related to SQL, you might need to purchase a license for a newer version of SQL.
